Help the Climate Chain Coalition craft and implement state of the art open governance and IT infrastructure.
The Climate Chain Coalition (CCC) is an open global initiative to support collaboration among members and stakeholders to advance blockchain (distributed ledger technology) and related digital solutions (e.g. IoT, big data) to help mobilize climate finance and enhance MRV (measurement, reporting and verification) to scale climate actions for mitigation and adaptation. The CCC is a relatively young open network in search of best tools and practices.
Sensorica is a member of the CCC.
All contributions related to the custodian. These can be time-based administration, office work, accounting, etc., or even expenses.
Build and disseminate a vertical plant growing system.
People have shown a tremendous willingness to invest their free time and energy contributing to projects that don’t benefit them financially. This “cognitive surplus”–the free time that people have on their hands to engage in collaborative activities–has the potential to realize vast stores of social value that the traditional marketplace tends to neglect.
Modern technologies like the internet, along with more recent innovations like distributed version control, have opened a pathway to more fully realize this value, but dependence on a still ad hoc, fragmented infrastructure means we’re not being as efficient or effective with this resource as we could be.
This project is about removing the barriers that keep social production flowing at a trickle instead of a stream and providing a more robust, integrated core infrastructure to service this growing community of amateur creators and contributors.

Create a network of open innovation spaces in Verdun, Montreal. The concept is described here.
Background
Initiative started by SENSORICA in colaboration with David Lametti, MP from Verdun.
David Lametti follows SENSORICA since 2013. In January 2016, after the federal election, David invited SENSORICA members to discuss about an initiative to boost the economy in his riding. The general idea was to create a network of open innovation spaces, build along the OVN SENSORICA model, where the local population can meet with entrepreneurs and local companies to generate new economic initiatives.
David asked sensoricans to gather a group of experts from our local network to facilitate the implementation of this concept.
OuiShare MTL was the first network to be included in this project. Alex Bigot, co-founder of OuiShare MTL and OuiShare global connector was invited by sensoricans at a meeting on the Parliament hill in Ottawa, where David Lametti reaffirmed his commitment to this project.
LivingLabs MTLwas also informed about this initiative and decided to join.
During the Montreal edition of the World Social Forum we met with other local players and discussed the project, in order to complete the initiation and facilitation team.

Objectives
* Remix / design and prototype a mid-size leaves blender.
* Evaluate its performance.
* Distribute a few prototypes to organizations local producers or through NGOs.
Description
A leaves blender is used to extract leaves concentrate, which can be of highly nutritional value.
Leaves concentrate is essentially a curd, made from leaves juice.
Design and prototype an open source decanter Centrifuge
This is a practical implementation of advanced plant growing techniques. While Sensorica has developed multiple technologies for smart agriculture, the implementation has often been left for other partners in the eco-system. This project looks to utilize those technologies in-house as well as develop new applications for resource efficient production of food.
The project will create an eco-system of sensors and controllers that will automate efficient plant growth techniques. Typically a plant requires light, nutrients, suitable grow media and water to grow. Our aim is to create and maintain optimal conditions using automated controllers and sensors.
Focus will be placed on urban community agriculture with special emphasis on developing a sustainable business model. The tools and techniques developed and streamlined through this project should enable co-operative community farming in urban settings. While large scale commercial farms are not the intended end-user, the tools developed should be scale-able and use-able on a commercial scale as well.
Overall, we should be able to maximize resource efficiency in terms of raw material consumption and human inputs. The project will serve as a test and development bed for implementation of Sensorica developed technologies and tools.

Fishing communities all around the world can turn recycled plastic into fishing nets and ropes.
Project requirements
The rope making machine design will represent a method for village-scale rope making of standard polypropylene (PP) rope from waste PP pellets/shreds, 16mm in diameter as long lines (at least 150-200m) and 7mm in diameter as short-lines (5 meter each). The design will represent an easily replicable device, built with stock components and minimal use of custom parts (unless they can be digitally fabricated with a RepRap class 3-D printer or CNC mill –e.g. limit to what is found in most fab labs and avoid high energy processes and a skilled machinist). The designers should seek to minimize cost and complexity while keeping throughput high (continuous if possible). The base design for the extruder -first stage - can use the Pearce group recyclebot designs.
Deliverable
Source code (CAD in native format and STL), full BOM (component, number, cost, and source), build instructions with pictures, operation/maintenance instructions, video of operation and prototype sent to the Project Sponsor.

The Project Sponsor would retain first academic publication rights (with Sensorica co-authors if wanted). At the time of academic paper submission full open source documentation released to the world.
