Andy is a mechanical engineer with programming skills.
University of Pennsylvania, Department of Animal Biology, School of Veterinary Medicine.
She is Associate Professor, works with arginylation-deficient mice (heart failure model). Dilson is planning to use our system for myofibril studies to test her samples. She herself does not do any physiological experiments (yet).
In order to see the difference in contractile properties between the arginylation-deficient and wild type mice she may not even need any complicated micro level experiments. We can provide her with the system for isolated muscle studies or isolated myocyte studies.
McGIll University, Department of Medicine, Meakins-Christie Laboratories, Associate Professor.
Dilson’s friend and collaborator. Her study focuses mostly on the contractile properties of smooth muscles (from lungs and bronchial tubes). She investigates the structure and function of normal and asthmatic airway smooth muscles.

Biomedical engineer. I’m doing a PhD at the University of Leuven (Belgium) in the biomechanics research group. In my PhD I’m focusing on the development of computational models for the repair of cartilage injuries. Consequently I have a strong background in biomechanics and computational modeling. Besides my PhD I’m very interested in 3D printing and it’s plethora of applications. In my leisure I’m learning advanced Python coding and working on small projects with Arduino. I’m open-minded and really like to discuss new ideas.

Our comments: We had a phone conversation with her. She is technologically challenged, or lack of technological infrastructure. It seems hard to collaborate with her using the new Internet media. Apparently she is the head of the department at the local University. Tibi found a few mentions about Miriam on the Internet. She would be a user of the device, but she could also take part in the design of a new type of sensor, one that measures forces developed by a shrinking ring.

Control systems for microgardens, applications in urban agriculture.
This is a practical implementation of advanced plant growing techniques. While Sensorica has developed multiple technologies for smart agriculture, the implementation has often been left for other partners in the eco-system. This project looks to utilize those technologies in-house as well as develop new applications for resource efficient production of food.
The project will create an eco-system of sensors and controllers that will automate efficient plant growth techniques. Typically a plant requires light, nutrients, suitable grow media and water to grow. Our aim is to create and maintain optimal conditions using automated controllers and sensors.
Focus will be placed on urban community agriculture with special emphasis on developing a sustainable business model. The tools and techniques developed and streamlined through this project should enable co-operative community farming in urban settings. While large scale commercial farms are not the intended end-user, the tools developed should be scale-able and use-able on a commercial scale as well.
Overall, we should be able to maximize resource efficiency in terms of raw material consumption and human inputs. The project will serve as a test and development bed for implementation of Sensorica developed technologies and tools.

This microphone system records more than just ordinary sound. It also records extremely high frequencies that your ear could never hear.
When the recordings are played back at a very slow speed, these ultrasonic frequencies become audible - revealing sounds you never knew existed!
Most sound recorders have a sample rate of 44.1kHz. This one has a sample rate of 1MHz (over 20 times higher).
Create a network of open innovation spaces in Verdun, Montreal. The concept is described here.
Initiative started by SENSORICA in colaboration with David Lametti, MP from Verdun.
David Lametti follows SENSORICA since 2013. In January 2016, after the federal election, David invited SENSORICA members to discuss about an initiative to boost the economy in his riding. The general idea was to create a network of open innovation spaces, build along the OVN SENSORICA model, where the local population can meet with entrepreneurs and local companies to generate new economic initiatives.
David asked sensoricans to gather a group of experts from our local network to facilitate the implementation of this concept.
OuiShare MTL was the first network to be included in this project. Alex Bigot, co-founder of OuiShare MTL and OuiShare global connector was invited by sensoricans at a meeting on the Parliament hill in Ottawa, where David Lametti reaffirmed his commitment to this project.
LivingLabs MTLwas also informed about this initiative and decided to join.
During the Montreal edition of the World Social Forum we met with other local players and discussed the project, in order to complete the initiation and facilitation team.
